Winter Equinox

For many communities, including Indigenous communities and peoples, this day holds special significance as it marks the change in daylight hours, the strengthening of the sun and the return of light after the darkest day. It is a time to give thanks for the gifts from the previous year and to set intentions for the coming year. It is about celebrating light, the outdoors, and our relationship with the land.

DSB1 students celebrate light, the outdoors, and their relationship with the land by making and sharing bannock and honouring reciprocity by giving back to the animals by making suet feeders.
